Harrison Martin Nisga’a / Tsimshian

Harrison Martin, born in March 2003, is Nisga'a and Tsimshian descent. Martin has shown great passion for his heritage and the arts at a young age. Along with taking lessons from Nisga’a Artist Mike Dangeli and observing Hobiyee, the Nisga'a New Year; Harrison has also attended Kwakwaka’wakw Potlatches in Alert Bay by Chief Rande Cook and Chief William Cook, inspiring Harrison to explore a practice best reflecting his culture and personal style.  

While apprenticing at Leaf Modern Gallery, Harrison gains knowledge and encouragement by Rande Cook, MFA, guiding Harrison to be confident with carving and painting techniques and overall artist and business practices, setting up Harrison for success on his journey. We are happy to have Harrison in our workshop and watch his growth as he takes pride in putting great care in everything his does!
