Born in culture-rich Alert Bay BC, Rande Cook was surrounded by the beauty of the land and groomed by the strong teachings of his grandparents. While growing up, Cook and his grandfather observed and discussed the traditional art forms of their Kwakwaka'wakw heritage. As Cook got older, his love for culture never faded and his desire to be artistically creative continually evolved. With many years of apprenticing with well-known master carvers and traveling the world, Cook developed and perfected his craft gaining 25 years as a professional artist. More recently, Cook completed his Masters of Fine Arts at the University of Victoria and continues to explore innovative ways in advancing his creative knowledge. Presently, Cook is passionate about being a father and a strong advocate for climate change for the future. In a recent discovery, Cook has been involving science in his new works in hopes to be part of the solution in unifying our environment, people, and the planet. Supporting Cook's works is supporting environment, culture, love, unity and most of all, it is supporting change!
Born on the motherland Africa, Mona Elliott was raised in the beauty of Tanzania and on many lands of this part of the world. With Elliott's father English Canadian and mother Somalian, Elliott was immersed in culture, heritage, music, fashion, dance, and most of all the love of art. Elliott is from her grandfather's tribe called Isakia, established by British Colony and Somaliland heritages. While growing up, Elliott embellished in the fashion and sales industry. Managing, coaching, buying, marketing, and strategizing, following a business career. In her early years, Elliott enrolled into business education with marketing communications and entrepreneurship but had a real passion for website and digital creation. As Elliott evolved, her passion for business never faded and was constantly evolving working in self driven careers. Elliott and her partner, Rande Cook, developed Leaf Modern sharing Cook's beautiful works. Today, Elliott continues to passionately grow the business, connect with community, and support the environment while providing the freedom for the artist to be the artist!
